I have just gotten interested in using VSM, but the picture I am getting from several threads and the VSM brochure is that this software is not getting the attention it needs in the Rev Ed priority list and is not keeping up with the hardware side.

This thread asking about X2 part support started in October of last year and it appears that still there is no X2 support at all even though X2 parts have been available for some time?

The thread entitled "VSM Update" points out that the sister program has been updated regularly over the past year while the Picaxe VSM is languishing untouched even though regular updates are implied by the "free updates for a year" statement.

The Picaxe VSM brochure makes no mention of X2 or M2 parts, and makes reference to the "new" X1 parts.

In my case, I am working with a 20X2, and it appears that there is no point in my spending money on this program. Am I correct, or am I missing something that would allow me to use VSM to develop circuits around the 20X2? Or is there an alternative program with X2 part support that would do just as well?

Why aren't X2 and M2 VSM components released as they become available at about the same time that the hardware parts become available? Of course, even if this were answered it would not answer the question of the Picaxe VSM software not being updated on any schedule.

I suppose it is because they are working on the next major version - V2.0.0, which would be released in late 2010, and includes X2 and M2 parts.

The VSM simulation engine is a very big update that is a completely separate project to the actual chips. Basically the whole chip model has to be generated from scratch. We are behind schedule on the X2s, for which we apologise, but the plan now is to release all X2 and M2 parts simultaneously in the next release.

OK it's now mid way through Q4 2010
Is there any sign of the VSM update Yet?
I'm sure there are a few out there (me for one) wanting an updated VSM in their Xmas stocking this year.
I'm hanging out to simulate the 40x2
Anyone want to start a betting book for when it arrives
cheers

Because the X2 release is overdue, the X2 model (when released) will be available to all users even if your update subscription has expired.
